World Environment Day
“He that plants trees loves others besides himself.” – Thomas Fuller
Each year, World Environment Day is observed by the United Nations across the globe to raise awareness about the importance of environment in our lives. It is a time to reflect on the initiatives taken to make the world a better and safer place to live in and also the challenges that we face in today’s world. NPS Banashankari commemorated the special day with a host of activities across grades, starting off with a special assembly programme, conducted by the seniors to emphasize the importance of saving our environment. They sent across the message through a dance on the beats of ‘Let’s make this world a better place for you and me’.
- Students of Grade 9 presented a neem sapling to Principal ma’am, Grace C D and other medicinal plants to the department heads who later planted the saplings in the medicinal garden area.
- The students of Grade 6 to 12 took the green step forward by sowing the seeds of vegetables to develop a kitchen garden.
- Students also participated in drawing posters and writing slogans for the occasion.
- There was a beautiful rendition of the Kannada song’Nityotsava’ by the choir group. On the whole the students learnt that even a small action towards the environment can make a big difference to the community.
“Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature.”
