Visit to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum
“The Science of today is the technology of tomorrow”- Edward Teller
With the aim to create and develop interest of the students in the field of science and inculcate scientific awareness amongst them, our teachers planned a visit to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum on Thursday, 14th July, 2016.
A group of about 161 students started from school at 9:15 am in buses and reached our destination at 10:30 am. We entered the centre and began our tour with the biotechnological revolution room. Here, an enlarged model of the DNA welcomed us. There were computer systems which had a lot of information and inbuilt games about topics of Biology. Next we visited space gallery and saw the working models of rocket propulsion, drag and lift. The Dinosaur corner with a life size moving Spinosaurus was a visual delight. We then headed to the “Electro technic room”. Here we saw the working models of Oersted experiment, Barlow’s wheel, hydroelectric and wind power. The best part was we could operate most of the models as it was designed to be interactive.
Lastly, we visited the engine room where we went through the history of engines right from the days of steam engines to modern day internal combustion engines. Sitting on Wright brothers plane simulator made us get the feel of how the first flight by man was achieved. This trip has amazed us helping us visualize what we learn in class.
